Follow these steps in order. Each one is independent — skip any that don't apply to your setup.
Open Valorant -> Settings -> Video -> Stats and set Client FPS to "Show Graph and Text". Play a few rounds of the same repeatable content — the Range, a deathmatch, or a replay — and note your typical FPS and how stable the graph looks. This baseline is the only way to tell which of the changes below actually helped on your hardware; re-check it after each step and keep the ones that made a measurable difference.

Press Win+X → Windows PowerShell (Admin) → paste: powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61. Then go to Control Panel → Power Options and select "Ultimate Performance." Valorant requires consistent CPU clock speeds — power throttling can cause sudden FPS drops during gunfights.
Open Windows Settings -> Gaming -> Game Mode and make sure the toggle is on (it usually is by default on Windows 11). While a game is running, Game Mode tells Windows to hold back driver installs, most notifications, and some background activity. Which setting applies depends on your GPU vendor. Nvidia: in Valorant -> Settings -> Video -> Graphics Quality, find NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency and test Enabled or Enabled + Boost. AMD: Valorant has no in-game equivalent, so open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition -> Gaming -> Graphics and test Radeon Anti-Lag for Valorant there. Both features change render-queue behavior to cut input latency; the effect depends on GPU load, frame cap, display, and driver, and neither vendor's option does anything on the other's hardware.
Go to Windows Settings → Gaming → Xbox Game Bar and toggle it off. Also disable Discord overlay (Discord → Settings → Game Overlay → toggle off). Disable GeForce Experience overlay if you have it. Every overlay that runs over Valorant consumes GPU resources and adds input lag.
Before starting Valorant, close Discord overlays, browsers, streaming software, and any other application you do not need. Open Task Manager and check CPU/RAM usage at idle. If background load is high, close apps one at a time and compare frame-time stability.
